Hello and Welcome!

The first thing you need to know is that if you have PTSD, no matter what the source of trauma, or if you care for someone who has PTSD trauma, then know that you are not alone. PTSD is an awful monster to wrestle with, but it does not have to be fatal to our lives or our relationships. There is Hope. The wounds we have sustained that damage us can be nourished to better health. We can regain our lives, identities, our relationships.

UPDATE: As of mid-September, 2009, all of our PTSD Spirituality materials now have their very own website. They are located at PTSD Spirituality. As you have the time or interest, come on over and take a walk about!

I hope you find some of the material there, which consists of articles and reflections on the spiritual dimensions of PTSD, to be helpful.

Spiritual Dimensions of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):
Healing the Wounded Soul, Restoring the Damaged Identity.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Desert Storm, Vietnam, Korea, World War Two...and all of those "Interesting Times" in between.

Regardless of how you or I feel about these wars, they all produce a common outcome. They all produce PTSD.

Whether we are engaged in a "Good War" or a "Bad War," in a "Just War" or an "Unjust War," or if we "Win" or if we "Lose," PTSD will be the one assured outcome of every instance.

PTSD does not care about winning or losing, it simply wounds the souls of women and men. It damages their relationships, and in some cases it can take their lives.

This website will soon provide resources for the understanding and healing of the spiritual dimensions of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The site is owned by Dr. John Zemler, Ph.D., an Army Veteran with PTSD and a CathoicTheologian specializing in Scriptures, Non-Violence, and providing Spiritual Direction. John has had PTSD for 25 years and now works to create PTSD-Awareness and healing opportunities for those who suffer from from PTSD either directly or indirectly.
